How we research, write, review and correct what we publish.

Independence

Our analysis is our own. Funders, partners and advertisers do not review or influence our findings before publication. Funding is acknowledged on each publication where it applies.

Accuracy and review

Every insight and publication links to the data behind it. Figures are checked against the original source before publication.

Labelling

  • Data updates report new official figures, with little or no interpretation.
  • Insights (analysis, commentary, data stories and explainers) interpret the figures and are the view of the author.
  • Research publications (outlooks, fiscal monitors, industry reports, policy briefs, research and working papers, special reports) name their authors, publisher, funding, methodology and disclaimers.

Corrections

We correct errors promptly. Where a correction changes the meaning of a figure or a conclusion, we say what changed and when. To report an error, use the contact form and choose “Report an error or correction”.

Conflicts of interest

Authors declare any interest that could reasonably be seen to affect their work. We do not publish investment recommendations.
