Methodology

How these figures are compiled

Headline figures are taken from the latest official release on the day it is published. GDP is on the rebased (2019) series. Exchange rates are the CBN NFEM close; monthly averages are CBN figures. Comparisons with other countries use World Bank and IMF series, which are annual and can lag national releases by a year or more.

What to watch

The next releases that will move the picture

Next CPI release

NBS publishes monthly inflation mid-month. A further fall would widen the gap between inflation and the policy rate, which matters for savings and loan pricing.

MPC decisions

The CBN has prioritised naira stability. Watch how real interest rates, reserves and the FX market shape the next decision.

Q3 GDP

Third-quarter GDP shows whether the oil and services momentum from Q2 carried into the second half of the year.
