Build with Eco Data Technologies data

A free, public JSON API for headline indicators, exchange rates, open datasets, publications and country data. No key needed to get started.

Overview

The Eco Data Technologies API gives you the same figures that power our dashboards: headline indicators, naira exchange rates, every open dataset, our latest publications and country data for more than 200 economies. It is free, read-only and returns JSON.

Request API access

The public endpoints are open: you can start now without registering. Request access if you need higher limits, bulk downloads, a dataset we do not publish yet, or an institutional arrangement. Tell us who you are, what you are building and the data and volumes you need.

Authentication

No authentication is needed for the public endpoints: send a plain HTTPS GET request. Every request is anonymous and read-only.

Authenticated access for institutional users, with personal keys and higher limits, will be introduced once the data infrastructure and licensing arrangements are ready. Organisations that request access now will be told how to authenticate when it opens.

Endpoints

All endpoints use GET and live under https://ecodatatechnologies.com/wp-json/ecodata/v1.

Dataset endpoints

Every table in the Data Hub is available as JSON, CSV and Excel. Use /datasets to list them, then fetch one by its slug.

  • /datasets?search=inflation&per_page=20&page=1 searches the catalogue.
  • /datasets/{slug} returns column headings and rows; add ?format=objects for one object per row.
  • Each entry links to its CSV (?download=csv) and Excel (?download=xlsx) files.

Responses and errors

Successful requests return 200 with a JSON body. Errors use standard HTTP status codes with a JSON message:

  • 400 an unknown indicator or invalid parameter.
  • 404 no dataset or route with that name.
  • 429 or 503 too many requests; wait and retry.
Request
curl https://ecodatatechnologies.com/wp-json/ecodata/v1/datasets/does-not-exist
Response404 Not Found · application/json

}

Figures are returned as published, so values such as "14.63%" keep their units. Dates use ISO 8601. Responses carry a Cache-Control header; please respect it.

Usage limits and pricing

  • Each IP address can make up to 60 requests a minute on the public endpoints. Every response carries X-RateLimit-Limit and X-RateLimit-Remaining headers; above the limit you get a 429 with a Retry-After header.
  • Responses are cached for up to an hour, so polling more often returns the same data.
PublicFree

All public endpoints, no key needed, fair use (up to 60 requests a minute)

InstitutionalOn request

Higher limits, bulk downloads and support, once licensing arrangements are in place

Terms of use

Data is published under CC BY 4.0 unless stated otherwise. Credit “Source: Eco Data Technologies (www.ecodatatechnologies.com)” and the original publisher shown in each record.

  • Cache responses on your side and avoid polling more often than the data changes. Market figures update once each business day; most indicators change monthly or quarterly.
  • Keep requests to a reasonable rate. For bulk or high-frequency access, contact us and we will help.
  • Figures are for information only and are not investment, tax or legal advice. See our methodology for sources and update schedules.

Use of the API is covered by our licensing and terms of use.

Technical support

Found a bug, an error in the data or something unclear in these docs? Tell us the endpoint, the request you sent and what you expected.
