Every figure is sourced and dated
Each figure names its original publisher and the period it refers to. Each dataset page shows its definition, source, frequency, unit, coverage, methodology and revision history.
Official sources first
We use publications from national statistics offices, central banks, finance ministries, debt offices, exchanges and international organisations before any other source. Where a press report is the only timely source, for example for some daily closing rates, we compare more than one report and name the one we used.
No silent estimates
We never fill gaps with unofficial numbers without saying so. Calculations we make ourselves, such as real returns or tax-to-GDP ratios, are labelled as Eco Data Technologies calculations and explained.
Revisions are recorded
Official statistics are often revised. When a dataset changes, the change is logged on its page with the date, and the previous figure is corrected rather than hidden.
Consistent comparisons
Comparisons between countries use the same international source for every country, so like is compared with like.
Clear separation of formats
Data updates, insights and research publications are labelled differently, so readers always know whether they are reading a report of new figures, an analysis or a research paper.
